Chapter 9
A Surprise
He leans in towards her. He inhales. âMmm, pineapple,â he whispers, happily and inhales again, deeply. He wipes his eyes and sniffles. âLanie, Wake up, Honey,â he asks, softly.
âNo, Iâm dreaming.â He put his hands on her face. She immediately opened her eyes to see him and she grabbed him and held him so tight. She felt his tears on her face. She couldnât help but cry, too, but it wasnât sadness, it was pure joy. He kissed her forehead, her eyelids, and cheeks. âI feel like Iâve been waiting my whole life for you to find me,â she admitted.
âI am so glad to see you,â he said, staring into her blue eyes.
âKiss me, please,â she begged.
He obliged. Tim held her head in his hands, just looking at her, scanning her face as if to make sure there was no part he was going to miss. âYou donât know how long I have waited to kiss you again,â he said.
She was surprised how soft his beard was. It still made her face itch. âAre you okay?â Lanie asked.
âIâm fine, Baby,â he smiled, caressing her face. He wiped his eyes, getting a good look at her again.
âIf I ever see Mandy again, Iâll slap the piss out of her!â she exclaimed, angrily.
âDonât bother, thatâs history,â he said, disinterested.
âHow many sisters does Levi have?â Lanie asked, curiously.
âFour,â he said quickly. âLanie, I donât want to talk about the Garrets,â he said. She sat up and kissed him. âThatâs what Iâm talking about,â he said, inspired.
âWhere are we and why have I been cut off from the world?â Lanie asked, looking at him with determination.
âLanie, I had to protect you, I had to make sure you were safe,â he said, sternly. âYou are my only concern. Actually, we are above my garage,â he said, coming back to his senses. âThis is my office / apartment. I figured one day this is where Iâd be staying when I was in the doghouse,â he admitted.
âSome doghouse,â she commented.
âWeâre at my house in Bellport, New York,â he explained.
âYou never told me you have a house here,â she noticed.
âIt hadnât come up. I just come here to get away some times,â he said. âMy âAlaska,â you could say,â he said with a smile.
âThis must be a huge garage,â she said.
âJust ten cars,â he said, modestly. âI only have five in here right now,â he said out loud.
âI only want two of those spaces,â she admitted.
âThey are yours,â he said with a smile. âYou can have as many as you want,â he said, hugging her. She looked out the window. âLook at the view, Lanie; nothing but water,â he invited her.
âYou are such a fish!â she said, shaking her head. She grabbed his jean pockets, pulling him closer to her. She grabbed a piece of paper in his back pocket, grabbing his backside. âWhatâs this?â she asked.
âOh, I got a ticket for speeding, trying to get here a little faster. If I could have kept my cool, I could have avoided the ticket.
